Shirley Temple? by: Diane
Misty, the Ideal Doll Co. held the patent on the 1930's and later Shirley Temple dolls and clearly marked them. Shirley dolls clearly had the famous dimples and ringlet curls. Even the Baby Shirley Temple had the dimples and most had the mohair curly wigs too.
You're lucky the composition on your Grandmother's doll is in good shape, from what I can see in the lone picture. Storing dolls in attics and basements is a very poor idea. Heat damage from the attic and moisture damage from the basement has ruined many a doll.
Is the composition baby marked on her neck or back? Many, many companies made these dolls and it sure helps to identify the company when they mark them. Mama dolls were popular. They had voice boxes in their cloth bodies. Tilt the doll and she said "Mama" to her proud little owner.
