Probably Merilee 22'

She is an Effanbee, either Marilee or Alice Lee. Based on the age of my friend and my current age I thought she was created in 1922, but it is most likely 1924. She is 22 1/2 inches tall with a china or porcelain head, shoulders and limbs. I would consider her to be a baby doll. Her body is cloth. She has a Mama crier. She has hair, as well as painted, molded hair beneath. Her tin eyes sleep, She has an open mouth. Her light pink short dress has embroidery around the neck and hem. She has a heavy draping cover, with pleated froth.

My doll was given to me by a dear friend. As a teenager I came every Saturday morning to help her clean her house. When her and her husband retired and moved to Arizona, she gave me her doll and a beautiful quilt. Her doll was given to her when she was a young child. She never had any children of her own, although she was teacher and mother to many children through teaching in a public elementary school.

I am ready to part with her as her owner has passed away many years ago.
