Old red cloth doll

I found an old chest in a house I refurbished back in 2005. It had a few old paper mache horse pull toys, several book dated 1910 thru 1930 and among other things a red cloth doll that looks unusual.
The previous owner had lived in Germany for a while and her son was born in the 10's or 20's. Any info about this doll would be appreciated, as well as its value. Thanks, Bryan
