Antique Doll Sales March 2010, page one with pictures, values, descriptions and much more….

Here is the first history installment of many doll and doll related online auction sales. Hopefully, many questions about values can be answered here and in the up-coming additions to this website.

For those of you planning online auction sales, this may serve as a guide as well.

We are also interested in your online selling experience, whether it be VIA online auctions, or just a straight selling web site, perhaps your own a website.

There is a form below which you can use to tell us about your online selling experience.

Pretty china head......small ....as is.
Selling all my fixers and parts...........
I know the bodies are frequently found on eBay.......just
clearing away the boxes of projects.

Approximately 3" tall.
2 1/2" wide
1 5/8" front to back.
There is a chip on front of shoulder plate.  See photo.

Overall wear and color loss on her hair.  Some roughness in some
loss of color areas.  Some color loss in blush on one cheek......this does show in photo. AS IS

You can see the cracks......she was broken and put back
together.......nothing effects her face.
Few rubs in her hair.

18" Sleep eye Schilling?

Approximately 18" tall.
Unmarked.
Early composition shoulder plate, arms and legs.
She has 3 tight cracks extending from one eye.....see photo.

Nose rub....skin on tip is gone.
Upper lip has odd shape inside mouth....but may be factory defect.
 Two small lines extend from nose into mouth. Another small one from left eye.

  She has teeth.  Sleep eyes.
Cheeks have some color loss.  Overall some age wear and paint loss.

Her wig is new......
One hand has some finger chips......the other has one finger chipped.
Feet are nice with red paint outline of toes.

Cloth body is sturdy cloth......think sawdust stuffed torso.
Wears a rag.......old.....just for cover.
Pretty face...........could be a lovely doll.
Overall age wear and discolor. 
AS IS.

28 inch wax over composition elegant lady

28" wax over composition elegant lady
A big girl that either sits well or displays well on a stand.

Approximately 28" tall.
Her head has a layer of wax over composition.

Overall some spider lines.....
A crack in wax from corner of one eye...and a X crack in wax on forehead ending in one brow. Another on opposite temple A slightly darkened spot on forehead where something melted wax and left a crater and discolor.

 Overall age wear and discolor of wax.  The wax is stable.
Body may have been recovered many years ago......heavy muslin?......age stains.

   It appears to be firmly stuffed kapok .....not sawdust.
Arms are not as firm which made me think this is an old recover.
Composition arms and legs are heavy.  There is some chipping of "skin" on one hand. See photos.

 Whatever the age of body recover......it is strong and is not going to deteriorate any time soon.

Her gown is a vintage, well made taffeta with velvet trim.
There is a bustle.  I am guessing gown was constructed in 1950's.......just a guess.
 Good condition but need a few stitches to secure seam separation in just a few places.

She wears eyelet slip and matching pantaloons.......and an extra padded slip that is a late addition.
 Velvet on skirt hem has faded evenly.

Her wig is older mohair......probably same era as dress.......and has two original gold color barrettes securing sides.
Her shoes are bad.....no soles.......some tears......no socks. Displays very well.
Nice....but not for the perfectionist.

THREE ORIGINAL paper mache dolls

Three.......all original early paper mache dolls. Approximately 9" tall. The blonde has a thin slice of cheek "skin" missing. She has a chip from under toe of one foot.

Her skirt is shredded.....but still intact. Girl with brown hair has red stain corner of one eye.....see photo. She has the prettiest slip and matching pantaloons.

The red head has chip on one foot......and her arms seem to have lost the upper cloth part......composition lower arms hanging loose in her sleeves.  She also has some cheek "skin" flaked from under one eye......see photo.

They all have overall soil........I have not cleaned. Their ethnic costumes have not been removed. All appear to have gauze cloth bodies . They have paper mache shoulderheads.

They are not perfect........but oh, so charming.   I just could not split them up. SOLD AS IS..........NOT FOR THE PERFECTIONIST......... just those who love and cherish their age and originality.
