Antique doll marked 1016, help me identify please
by James
This doll has a porcelain shoulder head, porcelain hands with red finger nails and the rest of the body is cloth filled with cotton.
It is marked (engraved) 1016 on the back of the neck but has no other markings at all. The eyes are shiny blue and are NOT sleepy eyes. The feet look like ballerina slippers sewed on. The mouth is closed.
The skin complexion is very pale, almost clown-like. The head has a black Kama hat thing (possibly where a wig goes?) which is part of the head so it's also made out of porcelain and there's a tiny bit of hair on the sides of the head that is also porcelain. The doll is 40 inches tall.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
