A Doll to (almost) Die For

by Ann White

It was Christmas 1950 and I really wanted a Toni doll in fact, I was pretty desperate for one. Unfortunately, they were all sold out.

The following summer my mother found one at a hardware store - a lovely platinum blond which I still have with her original clothes - and that wonderful nylon hair! I have many dolls, but she is my all-time favorite. I had a severe case of measles that summer so I guess mother was concerned that I would perish before the next Christmas.

I don't have a picture because I am not too good on a computer but she is wearing her original pale blue dress and center snap shoes. I have given her shampoos and washed her clothes and her hair is still gorgeous and new looking - I have taken good care of her.

I still collect Toni dolls, some I have rescued and restored, some that are still in original condition. I love them all*

Thank you for the submission, a picture would have been nice, but your description is very good.
