Arranbee Doll Fashions, Sonja Henie and Figure Skating...
...Created Many Arranbee Doll Fashions of The 1930s and 1940s!
Sometimes referred to as "Sonja Skater" I prefer to think of the figure skaters as "Nancy Lee." Figure skating in the late 1930s and early 1940s was at a peak due to the popularity of Sonja Henie, Olympic figure skating champion.
A treasure to behold is the darling redhead skater with her trunk of clothing. She has brilliant blue tin eyes. Clothing and doll are very close to the condition in which they were purchased long ago.
Even
though many old dolls have lost their original clothing, the ability
to shop online makes it relatively easy to dress a baby doll in
suitable replacement garments.
Often I purchase nude R&B dolls as I genuinely enjoy dressing them in adult 1940's fashions. As this site progresses, I will take you along to shop on eBay for appropriate vintage clothing to cover a nude doll.
The
1940's vintage suits were created long ago from a pattern for
Effanbee's Little Lady. It is just so striking that on R&B dolls,
the Little Lady had to resort to other fashions in the closet.
Vintage fur coats and purses complete the "look" of the '40s. The girl in mink coat and hat also wears a "V" for "Victory" pin. This Arranbee Doll Fashions outfit is very similar to those worn by my mother.
eBay has a rather large set of listings of vintage Arranbee dolls for sale, if you are interested in a purchase, or to find values if looking for costs, it is necessary to register with eBay.
At last, an outstanding book about Arranbee dolls and Arranbee Doll Fashions has just been published. It is a bevy of beautiful color photos! The authors have done extensive research into the history of Arranbee and have really done justice to this lovely publication.
Obviously
a real fan of "Nancy Lee," Debuteen and
Nanette..............there are many gorgeous photos to assist in
determining the identity of original clothing.

eBay is an excellent website for "value" information about dolls, or most anything else for that matter--however, to see what something has sold for, registration is required, so if you are looking for past sales of any particular doll, please register.
